The Russia-Africa summit is being prepared, specific organizational aspects are being worked out and the countries need to find a mutually convenient decision on the time and form of the summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference on Wednesday following talks with Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh Mohammed.
"The Russia-Africa summit is being prepared. This will be the second summit, the first was held in 2019 in Sochi. And now we and our African friends are developing specific organizational aspects that will allow us to already announce the specific parameters of the upcoming summit. <...> We must find the time and form that will be convenient for all heads of state," the head of the Russian diplomatic mission said.
Lavrov noted that the directions of Moscow's interaction with African countries were defined at the Sochi summit. "This includes political dialogue, cooperation in the economy and investment sphere, humanitarian ties and educational contacts," he said.
The foreign minister emphasized that a large number of students from Africa study in Russian universities and that the sides cooperate in solving problems of the African continent.
