Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has announced plans for a meeting of foreign ministers on October 13, ahead of the upcoming Russia–Arab summit.
“We expect the leaders of your countries in Moscow on October 15 to participate in the first Russia–Arab summit, and two days prior, on October 13, a preparatory meeting at the foreign ministers’ level will take place,” Lavrov said during the plenary session of the Russia–Gulf Cooperation Council Strategic Dialogue. He invited his counterparts to the upcoming meeting.
According to Lavrov, the meeting will finalize the preparation of the summit’s concluding documents.
In May, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a telegram marking the opening of the 34th Arab League summit, invited all Arab League leaders to the first Russia–Arab summit scheduled for October 15. The Russian leader expressed confidence that the summit would strengthen multifaceted mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries and help ensure peace, security, and stability in the Middle East and North Africa regions.
