Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Damascus on Monday. The Minister's plane landed at the international airport of the Syrian capital.
President Bashar al-Assad is expected to receive the Minister in Damascus, and a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem is also planned. This is Lavrov's first visit to Syria since February 2012.
On the eve, the Syrian media reported that a delegation of the Russian government headed by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov arrived in Damascus. The images published by Sana agency also show the Russian President's Special Representative for Africa and the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
