Lavrov Arrives in Turkey for Diplomatic Talks

24 February

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in Turkey for an official visit. His aircraft landed at the Turkish capital’s airport, according to a TASS correspondent.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told TASS that Lavrov’s visit includes scheduled negotiations in Turkey. She noted that the discussions will cover a broad range of international, regional, and bilateral issues.

A source in the Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed to TASS that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan plans to discuss key topics with Lavrov, including developments in the Middle East, Syria, and Ukraine.

On February 20, during the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting in Johannesburg, Lavrov and Fidan reviewed key bilateral issues and the situation in Syria. Lavrov also briefed his Turkish counterpart on the outcomes of Russian-American talks held in Riyadh on February 18.
