Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi to discuss the main directions of further promotion of cooperation between Moscow and Amman in various fields with the support of the mechanism of the intergovernmental Russian-Jordanian commission for the development of trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
"During the conversation, Lavrov and Safadi discussed in detail the main directions of further promotion of cooperation between Moscow and Amman in various spheres with the support of the mechanism of the intergovernmental Russian-Jordanian commission for the development of trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, whose last meeting was held on February 2 in the format of a video-conference link," the ministry pointed out.
According to the Russian MFA, the sides also exchanged opinions on key aspects of the Middle East agenda with emphasis on problems of settling the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the situation around the Holy Sites in Jerusalem.
The head of the Jordanian foreign ministry arrived in Moscow as part of the delegation of the Arab League contact group on Ukraine.
