Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Qatari State Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi discussed the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“During the talks, the parties discussed prospective directions for further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Qatari relations. The commitment to maintain a regular, trust-based political dialogue was reaffirmed, along with efforts to enhance trade-economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. This focuses on implementing agreements reached during talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during his official Moscow visit on April 17,” the ministry said.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Russia-Gulf Cooperation Council Strategic Dialogue in Sochi. “Significant attention was paid to pressing international and Middle Eastern agenda topics, with an emphasis on the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone,” the ministry noted.
Additionally, Lavrov met with Kuwait's Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya. During their meeting, the ministers “discussed priority issues for developing traditionally friendly Russian-Kuwaiti relations.” “Both Moscow and Kuwait reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. Current international and regional agenda issues were examined in detail, with a focus on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict,” the foreign ministry reported.
