Lavrov is in close contact with Armenia and Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh

Russia's top leadership, in particular Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, is in close contact with colleagues from Armenia and Azerbaijan on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. This is stated in a statement of the Russian MFA distributed on Thursday.

 

The Russian MFA also noted that Russian peacekeepers are making all necessary efforts to stabilize the situation on the ground. "Active work with both sides is being carried out through all channels and at all levels, including the country's top leadership. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is in close contact with his Azerbaijani and Armenian counterparts," the ministry said.

 

According to the Russian defense ministry, the situation in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh has worsened. According to the ministry, Azerbaijani armed forces violated the ceasefire near Sarybaba hill. The peacekeepers' command together with representatives of the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides take measures to stabilize the situation.
