Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that President Vladimir Putin held a productive meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani in Moscow, where they covered bilateral matters, regional developments, and practical steps to safeguard Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“I understand that yesterday you had a very good conversation with President Putin, during which you discussed bilateral issues, the situation in the region, and practical tasks to ensure the key priority of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Lavrov said as he opened talks with his Syrian counterpart.
The Russian minister stressed that trade and economic relations between the two countries will continue to build on the strong foundation established over past decades. “We have reached principled agreements on how to develop our trade and economic ties to mutual benefit, drawing on that solid base laid in previous years. Such regular check-ins, made possible by your visit, are extremely valuable,” he noted.
Lavrov reaffirmed Russia’s unwavering commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence.
