Russia intends to continue promoting inter-Afghan national reconciliation and is ready to resume the Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this on Friday at a press conference following talks with Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar.

"Russia has reiterated its principled policy of providing all possible assistance to create conditions for inter-Afghan national reconciliation. We will continue these efforts both in contact with the parties and within the framework of the so-called extended "troika", I mean Russia, the US and China with the inclusion of Pakistan. And, of course, we will be ready at any moment to resume the activities of the Moscow format, where all the key states of the region and the United States are present," said the Russian minister.
