Lavrov: Russia Ready to Draft UN Resolution Ending Middle East Conflict

05 March

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Russia, in collaboration with its international partners, is prepared to draft a United Nations Security Council resolution aimed at halting the current hostilities in the Middle East.

"Let us raise our voices together to stop all of this," Lavrov stated during a diplomatic roundtable in Moscow. "We are ready to prepare such a draft in New York with our friends and see what the reaction will be."

Lavrov emphasized that Russia’s position is one of solidarity with both Arab nations — specifically members of the Gulf Cooperation Council — and Iran. He noted that Moscow has spent years fostering the normalization of relations between Iran and its neighbors, a process he believes is now being threatened by the current escalation.
