Russia stands prepared to support all parties in the Middle East conflict as they seek a return to diplomatic channels, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced.
"We are ready to provide mediation and other forms of assistance in efforts to bring the situation back to a political and diplomatic track," Lavrov stated during a general meeting of the Russian International Affairs Council. He noted that he had recently held a two-hour video conference with the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the GCC Secretary-General, and the Jordanian Foreign Minister to present Russia's detailed assessment of the crisis.
During these discussions, the minister emphasized the continued relevance of Russia’s Collective Security Concept for the Persian Gulf. This proposal envisions a comprehensive normalization of relations between Iran and its Arab neighbors to ensure long-term regional stability.
