Lavrov: Russia–Egypt Relations Can Serve as an Example for Others

19 December

Relations between Russia and Egypt can serve as a model for other nations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty.

“I am very pleased with how our ties with Egypt are developing. The recent meetings between our presidents — in Moscow last May and, more recently, via videoconference during the launch of an important stage in the construction of the nuclear power plant — confirm their shared commitment to maintaining and deepening this course,” Lavrov said.  “All those who value sovereignty in their policies can look to Russian–Egyptian relations as an example.”

The second ministerial conference of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum is taking place in Cairo on December 19–20, marking the first event of its kind to be held on African soil.
