Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said he will discuss the situation in Ukraine with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and inform his counterpart about the actions Russia is taking to resolve the accumulated problems in the country.
"The number one topic in international affairs is the situation in Ukraine. I will talk about the actions that Russia is taking to solve the problems that have been accumulating there for years," he said as he opened talks with the UAE foreign minister.
"I want to simultaneously express my gratitude for your balanced and objective position on this situation," the minister stressed.
In addition, Lavrov noted, the sides will also discuss other topics on the international agenda, including the crises in the Middle East and North Africa.
According to the minister, regular contacts with the Emirati side confirm the two countries' mutual intention to further develop relations in all directions. Lavrov noted that the leaders of the two countries keep personal control over the implementation of agreements reached between them during regular contacts. "Today is a good opportunity to exchange views on how these agreements are being implemented and what needs to be done additionally," he added.
