Lavrov says the West does not believe in democracy

Western countries do not believe in democracy, otherwise they would leave developing countries alone. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this at a joint press conference with Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali al-Sadiq Ali.

"The fact that they (Western countries—TASS) are running around the world, trying to convince developing countries to condemn the Russian Federation, undermine relations with Russia, says only one thing: they do not believe in any democracy, in any equality of all states in the international arena. Otherwise, they would leave developing countries alone and respect their right to determine their own behavior in international affairs," Lavrov noted.

According to the Russian minister, Moscow in turn adheres to the position that "the national dialogue should be developed primarily by the Sudanese themselves without interference from outside, especially without attempts to give the Sudanese any prescriptions." "We support the fair approaches of Sudan to the consideration of Sudan issues in the UN Security Council, including the need to lift the restrictions that were imposed several years ago," Lavrov said.
