15 December

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed gratitude to Imangali Tasmagambetov, who is completing his term as Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), for his contribution to strengthening the system of collective security.

“Lavrov conveyed his deep appreciation to Tasmagambetov, who is concluding his tenure as CSTO Secretary-General at the end of 2025, for his significant contribution to the development of the collective security system and to deepening allied cooperation within the Organization,” Russia’s Foreign Ministry said following their meeting.

The ministry added that Lavrov and Tasmagambetov also reviewed “the key outcomes of the CSTO’s activities in 2025, including the results of the Collective Security Council session held in Bishkek on November 27.”

Starting January 1, 2026, Kyrgyzstan’s representative Taalatbek Masadykov will take over as the new CSTO Secretary-General.
