Recent statements from the United States expressing a desire to take control of all enriched Iranian uranium demonstrate Washington's broader intention to seize the planet’s energy resources, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press-conference.
"When our American colleagues say their primary goal is to take possession of all enriched uranium — totaling over 400 kilograms across various enrichment levels — it signals a lack of genuine interest in negotiations. It is not about a willingness to use the good offices of the Russian Federation, as was done in 2015 when the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program was reached and approved by the UN Security Council," Lavrov stated.
"It turns out that the United States simply wants to take this energy resource for itself. It is the same way they want to take practically all hydrocarbon resources, whether in Latin America, the Caribbean, the Persian Gulf, or other vast areas of our immense planet," Lavrov pointed out.
