President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon called on all mothers and women of the country to keep their children from joining radical, extremist groups. This was stated in his congratulatory message on the occasion of Mother's Day, published Tuesday on the website of the head of the republic.

"In the current extremely difficult and explosive conditions prevailing in the modern world, including in our region <...>, keeping teenagers and young people from reckless actions, especially from joining radical and extremist groups and movements, is also an important task of mothers, all women," said the head of Tajikistan.

Also, he said, the country's women must make even greater efforts "to protect the national language, history and culture, traditions and customs of the people, which are in danger of mixing with alien elements."

Rahmon assured that the government of the republic is doing its best to protect women's rights, increase their role in society and the country's governance, recalling that over the past two years a national strategy to enhance the role of women and the program, according to which by 2030 women should make up 25% of decision makers in Tajikistan, have been adopted.

Mother's Day, celebrated in Tajikistan on March 8, was introduced by a presidential decree signed in 2009.
