Lebanon and Iran are advocating for the avoidance of escalating the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and preventing a direct confrontation with Israel, stated Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Rudakov on the "Russia-24" TV channel.
"Neither in Iran, nor in Lebanon, nor anywhere in the Middle East does anyone want the continuation or expansion of the conflict zone," - the diplomat emphasized. - "Both Tehran and Beirut are advocating against a direct clash with Israel."
Rudakov highlighted that countries in the region are making extensive diplomatic and political efforts to help end the conflict in Gaza and prevent its escalation.
Previously, it was reported that in mid-June, the Israeli army approved an operational plan for an offensive in Lebanon. Following the operation against the Palestinian movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Israeli authorities are planning to simultaneously strike the Lebanese Shia group Hezbollah, which, like Hamas, acts against Israel and occasionally launches attacks on Israeli territory from the north.
