Malaysia Urges UN Security Council to Recognize Israeli Actions in Palestine as Genocide

24 January

Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hassan has called upon the UN Security Council to acknowledge Israel's actions in Palestine as genocide, branding them an illegal and immoral pogrom. Speaking during an open debate on the Middle East situation, Hassan stressed the immediate need for a ceasefire, accountability for Israel's alleged breaches of international law, and the recognition of their actions as genocide.

"Malaysia demands accountability for Israel's apparent violation of international law. The lack of accountability for Israel's war crimes undermines international law and is an obstacle to the liberation of Palestine," asserted Minister Hassan. He emphasized that the ongoing actions by Israel demand collective action from the UN Security Council.

Minister Hassan also advocated for recognizing Palestine as a permanent member of the UN.
