Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will take part in the 16th International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum,” according to Konstantin Kolpakov, a senior official from the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department for Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Relations. He made the announcement during a press conference at TASS dedicated to the upcoming event.
“The number of participating countries is growing by the day,” Kolpakov said. “As Alexander Stuglev [Chairman of the Roscongress Foundation] noted, representatives from 87 countries have confirmed their attendance. Among them is Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.”
High-profile guests will also include the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov; a member of the Qatari royal family, Sheikh Ali Abdullah Thani Jassim Al Thani; Pakistan’s Minister for Privatization and Investment, Abdul Aleem Khan; Libya’s Foreign Minister Abdulhadi Al-Hawaij; and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.
Delegations and representatives from more than 20 countries are expected to attend, including Azerbaijan, Algeria, Bahrain, Guinea-Bissau, Djibouti, Yemen, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Palestine, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tunisia, Turkey, and South Africa.
Kolpakov emphasized that despite the rapidly shifting geopolitical climate, KazanForum remains a key platform for strengthening Russia’s strategic partnership with the Islamic world and promoting Russian culture and values.
This year’s program will highlight several significant anniversaries, including the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Great Patriotic War and the founding of the United Nations. For the first time, the forum will also feature a dedicated session on cybersecurity, organized by the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department for International Information Security.
KazanForum will be held from May 13 to 18 in Kazan.
