During the plenary session of the Russia-Africa summit, Assimi Goita, the President of Mali's transitional period, expressed gratitude for Russia's assistance in strengthening Mali's armed forces and enhancing security in the country. Mali has developed a military partnership with the Russian Federation and credits Russia for its support and friendship.

"Thanks to Russia's support, Mali's defense forces, security services, and force structures have been strengthened. As a result, Mali's armed forces have become more capable, and the number of terrorist attacks on military bases has significantly reduced. The enhanced security measures have contributed to ensuring safety in many areas of the country," he stated.

President Goita emphasized the need for Mali to become fully independent and self-sufficient in the future. "Strengthening the armed forces is a crucial step toward achieving this goal as it will enable them to protect the country's territorial integrity", Goita added. He praised Russia as a reliable partner, highlighting their support in difficult times and the respect shown towards Mali's sovereignty during the cooperation.
