The Malian Armed Forces have announced that they successfully carried out strikes against militant positions in the village of Tinzahouaten, located in the northeast near the border with Algeria. According to a communiqué from the General Staff of the army, the operation resulted in the elimination of approximately 20 armed militants.
The strikes were part of Operation Maliko, during which army units, on a reconnaissance mission, detected and identified vehicles—specifically pickups—carrying military equipment and closely guarded by militants in Tinzahouaten.
The communiqué emphasized that the Malian armed forces destroyed the terrorist targets and reaffirmed their “full determination to protect people and their property throughout the national territory.”
The situation in northeastern Mali has been highly volatile for several weeks. Between July 25 and 27, various extremist and terrorist groups launched attacks on Malian armed forces in the Tinzahouaten area, inflicting significant casualties on the military.
