Marat Gatin, Deputy Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision (GSV) "Russia – Islamic World" and Assistant to the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, held a working meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko. The primary focus of the talks was the implementation of ongoing projects and finalizing the Group’s 2026 strategy.
During the meeting, Gatin and Borisenko discussed the Group's critical role as a tool for public diplomacy and humanitarian engagement with member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Both officials emphasized that the Group continues to serve as an essential link, fostering a dialogue tailored to the specific needs and requests of international partners.
A major portion of the discussion centered on the upcoming XVII International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum," set to take place in Kazan on May 14–15, 2026. Gatin briefed the Deputy Minister on several high-profile events planned for the forum: the Group’s annual plenary session, two specialized thematic roundtables, and an international media forum.
"KazanForum remains a premier platform not only for economics but for a substantive dialogue on humanitarian ties," Gatin noted following the meeting. "We discussed how to present concrete results of the Group's work to our foreign guests and identify new directions for future collaborative projects."
Deputy Minister Borisenko praised the progress of the preparatory work and reaffirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would provide full institutional support for the events in Kazan.
The two sides also synchronized their positions on broader international issues, including the situation in the Middle East. They agreed that maintaining a stable and constructive dialogue with Islamic nations is more vital than ever, given the current regional context.
