The Russian-Egyptian strategic cooperation is of a mutually beneficial, pragmatic and special nature, Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matvienko said on Thursday at a meeting with Egyptian Senate Chief of Staff Abdel Wahab Abdel Razek.
"We note with satisfaction that Russian-Egyptian strategic cooperation continues to develop dynamically in the whole range of directions. Our relations are not just mutually beneficial and pragmatic, they are special in their nature. It is the long experience of fruitful joint work, it is based on principles of friendship, trust, mutual respect, consideration of each other's interests and historical friendship of our peoples," the Speaker of the Council of Federation said.
She also noted constant political dialogue and intensive interaction between ministries and agencies of Russia and Egypt supported by the presidents of the two countries. Matvienko thanked the head of the Senate of Egypt for coming to Russia in spite of the pandemic. According to the speaker of the Council of the Federation, this shows the special nature of Russian-Egyptian relations.
"Egypt is the largest country in the Middle East, which has always been and remains Russia's strategic partner both in bilateral relations and in regional and international affairs," Matvienko stressed.
"I know, dear Mr. Chairman, that this is your first visit to Moscow. We have prepared for you quite a rich program. I am sure you will be able to get acquainted with the capital of Russia, with its historical and cultural sights. And I hope that the current frosty weather is compensated by the warmth of our hospitality, which I hope you will feel in the Russian capital", added Matvienko.
