Matviyenko: Russian Senators Ready to Share Experience with Somali Colleagues

02 June

Russian senators are open to dialogue and cooperation with their counterparts from Somalia, including coordination on key international issues, Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko stated during a meeting with Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, Speaker of the Senate of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.

“Senators of the Russian Federation are ready for cooperation and dialogue, willing to share their experience and coordinate positions on key regional and international issues within global parliamentary platforms,” Matviyenko said.

She emphasized that Russia seeks to expand friendly ties with African partners, noting that the Russia–Africa summits have helped define new areas for collaboration, including interparliamentary relations.

Matviyenko also proposed establishing direct cooperation between relevant parliamentary committees and encouraged more interaction during international parliamentary forums.
