Matviyenko to Lead Russian Delegation at CIS Interparliamentary Assembly's Fall Session in Dushanbe

A delegation of Russian parliamentarians, led by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, will participate in the fall session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (CIS IPA) in Tajikistan's capital on November 13-14.

 

“Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council and Chairperson of the CIS IPA Council, will lead the Russian parliamentary delegation at the Commonwealth's fall session events in Dushanbe,” the upper house's press service announced. “She will take part in the CIS IPA Council meeting, address the 59th plenary session, and hold bilateral meetings.”

 

The session will bring together parliamentary leaders and members from Commonwealth states to elect the CIS IPA Council Chairperson and approve chairs of the assembly's standing commissions.

 

Participants will review Tajikistan's CIS chairmanship results and activities conducted under the IPA's auspices. The agenda includes considering model laws, amendments to model codes, and a prospective plan for model legislation in the CIS for 2026-2028. Parliamentarians will also participate in meetings of the IPA's standing commissions.

 

The Federation Council delegation includes Vice-Speaker Nikolay Zhuravlev, Committee on Science, Education and Culture Chair Lilia Gumerova, Social Policy Committee Chair Elena Perminova, International Affairs Committee Chair Grigory Karasin, and Senators Nikolay Vladimirov, Vladimir Dzhabarov, Alexander Savin, Vladimir Kozhin, and Oleg Tsepkin.
