Media: Drones Target Residential Areas in Syria's As-Suwayda

30 October

Forces from Arab tribes, backed by the transitional government in Damascus, are shelling southwestern districts of the Druze-majority city of As-Suwayda in southern Syria, according to Sham TV.

The broadcaster reported that militia groups are using mortar installations and deploying drones to attack residential neighborhoods. No civilian casualties have been reported so far.

Druze self-defense units repelled two assaults on As-Suwayda on October 21 and 28, shooting down several drones launched by Arab militias. Earlier, on October 17, intense exchanges of fire were recorded along contact lines in the towns of Ura and Khirbet Samer.

Damascus authorities have warned Druze community elders to strictly adhere to the ceasefire established on July 19 following earlier clashes in the province.

The conflict between Arab militias and the Druze community in As-Suwayda erupted in mid-July. According to Asharq al Awsat, the confrontations have resulted in over 1,600 casualties and caused disruptions to water and electricity supplies in southern regions, alongside shortages of food, medicine, and fuel in urban areas.
