Media: Egypt Working to Resume Humanitarian Aid Deliveries to Gaza

03 March

Egypt is actively working to restore the flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, according to reports from Al Hadath, a Dubai-based television channel, citing its sources.

The sources also indicated that mediators are pushing to extend the ceasefire until disagreements between Hamas and Israel over the start of the second phase of negotiations are resolved.

Mediators have reportedly urged Israel to hold off on resuming military operations, while Israel insists that Hamas must begin disarming before reconstruction efforts in Gaza can proceed, the channel’s sources said.

The initial ceasefire agreement, brokered in mid-January with Egypt, Qatar, and the US acting as intermediaries, went into effect on January 19. The first phase ended on March 1, during which 33 hostages were released from Gaza over a period of 42 days.
