Media: Hamas Agrees to Surrender Heavy Weapons as Part of Gaza Settlement

The parties to the Gaza conflict and mediators have agreed on initial steps toward disarming the Palestinian movement Hamas, including the removal of the group's heavy weaponry. This was reported by the Saudi television channel Al Arabiya, citing sources.

 

"Agreements have been reached on initial steps to remove heavy weapons from Hamas," the channel's interlocutors state. According to their information, the Palestinian group has informed the United States that it is prepared to relinquish control over the Gaza Strip as part of a peace process.
