Media: Internet Access Partially Restored in Afghanistan

01 October

Internet connectivity has been partially restored across Afghanistan, according to the international internet monitoring service NetBlocks.

“Live network data show a partial restoration of internet connectivity in Afghanistan,” the service stated in a post on X.

Earlier, Amu TV reported that Kabul Airport had been forced to cancel all flights due to the internet outage. Airport staff had not been informed in advance about the authorities' plans to cut fiber-optic internet access. Khaama Press agency added that hundreds of passengers were stranded at Dubai Airport awaiting flights to Afghanistan.

The restoration comes after Afghan media reported that Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Hibatullah Akhundzada had ordered a ban on wired internet in several regions to “prevent immoral behavior.” Officials stated the decision had significantly hampered the work of government services.
