Israeli forces have launched an attack targeting a settlement in Syria's southern Daraa province, according to reports from Al-Ikhbariya.
The channel stated that the assault involves various calibers of weaponry, though no information regarding casualties or damage is currently available.
This incident follows Syrian Transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa's September 22 statement at the UN General Assembly that while Syria and Israel could potentially negotiate security arrangements, Israeli forces “must in any case withdraw from Syrian territory.”
On September 17, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheibani and Israeli Strategic Planning Minister Ron Dermer held US-mediated talks in London. The discussions focused on a new draft security agreement to replace the 1974 Israeli-Syrian disengagement accord for the Golan Heights. Israel declared the previous agreement void following the change of government in Damascus in December 2024, after which the Israeli military expanded its control over the Golan Heights by occupying the buffer zone, including establishing positions on Mount Hermon.
