Malian authorities are planning to acquire the Bavar-373 air and missile defense system from Iran.
This decision could mark “a turning point in military cooperation between the two countries,” according to the AES Info news portal.
The Bavar-373 system “will enable Mali to counter multiple air threats, including ballistic missiles and combat aircraft,” the report states.
The Bavar-373 is a modern anti-aircraft missile system capable of engaging air targets at a range of 305 kilometers.
Previously, Iranian authorities expressed their intention to develop economic cooperation with Mali, stating that they are ready to transfer scientific technologies to the West African nation and expand business and trade relations.
