Militants from the extremist group Balochistan Liberation Army have taken 450 train passengers hostage in Pakistan, according to Muhammad Kashif, a senior official from the railway department of Balochistan province, as reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP).
"More than 450 passengers aboard the train are being held hostage by militants," the agency quoted Kashif as saying.
According to Geo TV, the extremists blew up railway tracks before opening fire on the train. The train's engineer was injured in the attack. A fierce gunfight reportedly broke out between the train’s security personnel and the militants during the assault.
