Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to pass along a message to Tehran assuring that Israel has no intention of launching an attack on Iran, Israel’s public broadcaster Kan reported, citing a diplomatic source.
According to the report, Netanyahu made the request during recent phone conversations with the Russian leader. The Israeli prime minister was said to be concerned that Iran might carry out a preemptive strike on Israel if it believed an Israeli offensive was imminent.
At the same time, Kan noted that speaking before the Knesset on January 5, Netanyahu warned that any Iranian attack on Israel would be met with “severe consequences.” The broadcaster added that Israeli political and security officials had recently held internal discussions focused on a range of defense issues, including Iran-related threats.
The Kremlin’s official website lists November 15, 2025, as the date of the most recent phone call between Putin and Netanyahu.
