More than 60 Palestinians have died in Israeli prisons since October 2023, with the bodies of at least 70 others still being held by Israeli authorities, according to the human rights organization Addameer, which is headquartered in the West Bank.
"The number of detainees who have died in [Israeli prisons] since October 7, 2023, has risen to 61, and that’s only the cases where identities have been confirmed. Among them, 40 were from the Gaza Strip. In total, the number of Palestinians who have died in Israeli occupation prisons since 1967 has reached 298," the organization stated. They also noted that Israeli authorities are holding the bodies of at least 70 more Palestinians who died in custody and are preventing their identification.
