Media: Trump Asked Netanyahu to Avoid Provocations West of the Jordan River

30 December 2025

US President Donald Trump urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to refrain from provocative actions in the West Bank and to reconsider his policy in that area, the news outlet Axios reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to the report, during a meeting at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate near West Palm Beach, Florida, the US president and his aides “expressed concern about the situation in the West Bank and asked Netanyahu to avoid provocative actions and calm tensions.” The White House team reportedly raised issues related to “violence by Israeli settlers against the Palestinian population, the financial instability of the Palestinian National Authority, and the expansion of Israeli settlements.”

Axios writes that Washington’s position is that “a change in approach in the West Bank is necessary to restore Israel’s relations with European countries and potentially expand the Abraham Accords” — the agreements normalizing relations between Israel and several Arab states.

A US administration official cited by Axios added that “further escalation in the West Bank would undermine efforts to implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.”
