20 January 2023

Several meetings of the group of the countries-neighbors of Afghanistan will be held in the first quarter of 2023 at different levels, including ministerial. Russian President's Special Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov  said on Friday on the air of the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

According to him, the Russian side considers the Moscow format to be "the most promising format" for resolving the situation in Afghanistan, involving 10 countries of the region, which "are actually genuinely interested in stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan."

"There is also another format of countries initiated by our Chinese partners. This is a group of countries that are neighbors of Afghanistan. In the near future, in the first quarter [of this year], a series of meetings will be held here (in this format - TASS), both at the ministerial and the lower level, where specific issues of assistance to the Afghan people will be discussed," the special representative of the Russian president noted.
