A ministerial meeting on Afghanistan between the Central Asian CIS countries and Russia will be held in Samarkand on April 13, CIS Secretary-General Sergei Lebedev said on Thursday.
"On April 13, on the eve [of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council (FMC) scheduled for April 14 in Samarkand], a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Central Asian CIS countries and Russia on Afghanistan will be held. Representatives of Afghanistan's neighboring countries will join them, as well as important ministers, such as the foreign ministers of the People's Republic of China and Pakistan, as far as I know," he told reporters.
Speaking about the forthcoming CIS Ministerial Council, Lebedev noted that "the foreign ministers of most countries [of the commonwealth] have already confirmed their agreement to come there (to Samarkand - TASS), the Uzbek party has also announced that it is ready for the session."
"As for the upcoming Council of Foreign Ministers, the agenda of the meeting traditionally includes questions on the results of inter-MFA consultations of CIS countries in 2022, as well as on the implementation of the action program to enhance cooperation of foreign ministries of CIS countries. In addition, decisions will be made on identifying youth capitals of the commonwealth," the secretary-general informed.
