Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Libya to the Russian Federation Ahmed Al-Maghrawi met with Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The meeting took place at the Kazan Kremlin.
It should be reminded that the delegation of the State of Libya headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Libya to the Russian Federation Ahmed Al-Maghrawi is in Kazan on a working visit (February 5-8, 2023).
The delegation is planning to hold business meetings at ministries and departments of Tatarstan, visit a number of industrial enterprises and learn about the activities of Bashir Rameyev IT Park, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University and others.
Long-term cooperation within the framework of Russian-Libyan relations, implementation of several projects, and mutual cooperation were discussed during the meeting. Rustam Minnikhanov recalled that he visited Libya (in 2001 and 2008).
Rustam Minnikhanov also spoke briefly about the development of Tatarstan and its economic potential. For example, the region has developed oil extraction, petrochemical and oil refining, produces cars, airplanes, helicopters, ships, machine-building production. Tatarstan exports about half of its manufactured industrial goods. The halal industry is actively developing, including the export of products.
Today Tatarstan actively cooperates with the Islamic world and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). In 2022, the 1,100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars was widely celebrated.
Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, was the Youth Capital of the OIC in 2022, with a wide program of events. The key event was the Global Youth Summit.
Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that the International Economic Summit "KazanForum" remains the main platform for Russia's economic interaction with Muslim countries. Since 2023, by the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, it has become an event of the federal level.
Rustam Minnikhanov invited the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Libya and the Libyan delegation to take part in the forum.
In addition, a lot of work is being done through the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World", Rustam Minnikhanov reminded. According to him, the GSV "Russia - Islamic World" is a platform for consultations at the level of socio-political figures, the business community, representatives of the scientific community and the clergy with authority and influence in Islamic countries.
During the meeting, it was noted that students from Libya study at KFU. Rustam Minnikhanov expressed the hope that the number of Libyan students at universities of the republic will increase.
Today it is important to work more actively to develop cooperation between Tatarstan and Libya within the framework of Russian-Libyan relations, said Rustam Minnikhanov. He also thanked the ambassador for paying attention to Tatarstan and for visiting the republic.
In turn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Libya in the Russian Federation Ahmed Al-Maghrawi expressed gratitude for the attention to the Libyan delegation and for the rich program. He noted that there are a number of areas where mutually beneficial cooperation can be established, including the health sector.
