Minnikhanov Highlights Growing Ties with Islamic World

17 October

In his annual address to the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rais Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized the importance of developing relations with Islamic countries.

“The international landscape is rapidly evolving, with the significance of a multipolar world steadily growing. Following directives from national leadership, Tatarstan actively participates in integration processes within BRICS, SCO, and the Eurasian Economic Union, while dynamically developing cooperation with partners from neighboring countries, Islamic states, China, India, and nations across Asia and Africa.”

Minnikhanov noted that major annual events significantly contribute to expanding the republic's international economic and humanitarian ties, listing: “International economic forums like 'Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum,' 'SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation,' Kazan Digital Week, the Global Youth Summit, and Energy and Petrochemical Forums. We must continue enhancing the practical outcomes of these important events.”

The Tatarstan leader added: “Tatarstan maintains intensive engagement with the Islamic world, including through the Group of Strategic Vision 'Russia-Islamic World'. A key cooperation area involves implementing joint investment projects using partnership (Islamic) financing tools. A decision has been made to open in Kazan the first representative center of AAOIFI – a key international organization developing Islamic finance standards. This will become an important institution for further developing the partnership financing market in Russia and CIS countries.”
