Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia – Islamic World,” Rustam Minnikhanov, addressed the Group’s plenary session on the topic: “The Experience of Russia and the Islamic World in Youth Policy: Common Challenges and Joint Actions".
“Today, youth make up around 70% of the population in the Islamic world. It is our duty to instill in the younger generation a deep respect for their history and culture. Only by doing so can we preserve our identity,” said the Group’s chairman.
He noted that Russia is creating the conditions to raise young people based on traditional values. In Tatarstan, this work begins in preschool and involves educators, parents, and organizations such as “Selet” “Sozvezdie,” and various youth centers.
Minnikhanov also referenced the recent celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War: “It is crucial that young people understand the value of peace won by our ancestors.”
“Youth policy in Russia and the Islamic world is developing in the context of global challenges. Our experiences highlight common issues and successful models of cooperation,” he emphasized. According to the Rais, Kazan’s designation as the Cultural Capital of the Islamic World in 2026 will offer an opportunity to showcase the contributions of Tatarstan and Russia to global civilization and further strengthen international cooperation.
