Mirziyoyev and Putin Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

14 October

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation to discuss strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between their countries, according to the Uzbek leader's press service.

During the October 14 call, the two leaders examined “issues of further developing and strengthening Uzbekistan-Russia relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance, focusing on the practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.”

Special attention was paid to maintaining growth in key indicators of investment and trade-economic cooperation, along with supporting collaborative projects at the regional level between the two countries.

The leaders also noted the expanding humanitarian cooperation in culture, arts, and education, including joint programs for training engineering personnel.

This conversation follows President Mirziyoyev's earlier statement at the Central Asia-Russia summit in Dushanbe, where he affirmed that Russia will always remain Uzbekistan's key, priority, and strategic partner and ally. He also emphasized that energy cooperation between Central Asian countries and Russia will continue to be a factor for regional stability and sustainability.
