Turkmenistan celebrated its 34th Independence Day on September 27. That day was declared a holiday across the country, with festive events held nationwide. The nation became independent in 1991, when the Supreme Council of the Turkmen SSR adopted the constitutional law “On Independence and the Foundations of State Structure of Turkmenistan” following a national referendum.
