Mishustin to meet Azerbaijani President in Baku

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who is on a visit to Baku, will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Friday. The chairperson of the government will also honor the memory of former Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev and visit the memorial Alley of Martyrs.
 

Earlier, the press service of the Russian cabinet of ministers reported that during the talks with the Azerbaijani leadership, it is expected to discuss urgent issues of Russia-Azerbaijan trade and economic cooperation in transport, energy, industrial, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as implementation of joint projects in various fields.
 

On November 17, the first day of the visit, Mishustin discussed these topics with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov. Following the results of the negotiations, the sides signed a package of documents on information cooperation in the field of combating money laundering and financing of terrorism in the cross-border movement of cash by individuals, ensuring epidemiological welfare of the plague in the border natural foci, joint activities in introducing international medical and health regulations, cooperation in the field of shipbuilding, bilateral development of border crossing points.


Aliyev spoke by telephone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 17. The heads of state, the Kremlin reported, discussed "certain issues of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation in trade, economic and energy fields."


Mishustin is scheduled to begin his working day with a visit to the Alley of Honor  - a memorial cemetery in Baku, established in 1948, where the leaders of Azerbaijan, prominent figures of culture, science, literature, art, Heroes of the Soviet Union and politicians are buried. In 2003, national leader of the Republic Heydar Aliyev was buried in the central part of the complex, and the grave of his wife, ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva is also located here. The Russian prime minister will lay flowers on their graves.


The leader of the Russian cabinet is expected to visit  Alley of Martyrs memorial complex located in Nagorny park in the central part of Azerbaijani capital and lay a wreath to the monument. The victims of the events of January 20, 1990, in Baku, when special units of the Soviet Army, the Interior Ministry and the USSR KGB entered the city, are buried in the complex. In addition, soldiers who died in the first Karabakh war in the early 1990s are also buried there. On the Alley, the monument "Eternal Flame" is built.
