Tehran MP Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has been re-elected as chairman of Iran's Majlis (parliament), the IRIB Broadcasting Corporation reported on Wednesday.
According to its data, 194 members of parliament voted for Ghalibaf. His closest pursuer, Morteza Agha Tehrani, received 53 votes.
Ghalibaf was first elected as head of the legislature in late May 2020. Prior to that, he was the top vote-getter in the capital in the February 2020 parliamentary elections with 1.2 million votes. The 11th Majlis officially began its work on May 27, 2020.
