More than 700 Afghan students have received visas to enter Russia to continue or start their studies at universities, the press service of the Ministry of education and science told TASS on Tuesday.
"As of October 21, 2021, the Russian Ministry of education and science has sent 1,047 applications for visa support for Afghan students to the consular department of the Russian foreign ministry. Currently, the Russian embassy in Kabul issued 752 visas for Afghan students. The process of registration of documents continues", the press service reported.
Depending on the current socio-political situation in Afghanistan, it is planned to gradually organize the departure of Afghan citizens to Russia to continue or start studying in Russian universities, including those enrolled in the preparatory department and the first course, the ministry said. "At present, there is no information on specific dates of such special flights organized by Russia," the press service added.
At the end of September, the Ministry of education and science reported that the number of students from Afghanistan currently outside Russia is more than 900 people, of whom 381 are enrolled in the first year at Russian universities.
