Mother and Eight Children Evacuated from Gaza Meet Their Father in Moscow

05 December 2023

A man who relocated to Moscow two years ago expressed immense joy at reuniting with his family – his wife and eight children who had been evacuated from the Gaza Strip – upon their arrival at Moscow's Domodedovo airport.

On Tuesday night, a dedicated Russian Emergencies Ministry aircraft safely transported 120 Russians along with their family members from Gaza to Domodedovo airport. While anticipating the departure of the Russians from the designated "clean zone," Samir, who awaited the reunion with his wife and eight children, shared that "he had arrived in Russia two years ago, and his family had remained there since."

"I don't even know if our house is still standing, but the main thing is that everyone is alive. When the evacuation was announced, the family promptly initiated preparations, residing temporarily with my brother—totaling 18 people. It's hard to express how much I long to hug my daughter at this moment," the man shared.

A girl named Aber, who met her evacuated parents, extended her gratitude to the Russian Emergencies Ministry. "I want to convey my immense thanks to our president and our country; I am proud to be a citizen of the Russian Federation. My heartfelt appreciation also goes to the Emergencies Ministry team; words are truly inadequate. I was in constant communication with them, and their assistance was invaluable. It's a great effort, and there are no words sufficient to express gratitude to EMERCOM," she expressed. Aber has been residing in Russia for a decade, while all her relatives remain in the Gaza Strip.

Aber managed to evacuate only her parents from the war zone. "I could bring my parents, but many relatives remain there – my brothers, sisters, and their families. I couldn't bring them along, and I am deeply concerned about their well-being," she expressed. The girl's mother arrived in a wheelchair. Aber added, "My parents are exhausted; they've been on the road for two days, departing from the Gaza Strip on Saturday, and I am meeting them today."

A man named Taha, residing in Russia, reunited with his family—his father, mother, and sister—on Tuesday. He expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you, Russia, for rescuing my relatives from this ordeal. My sincere appreciation to our foreign ministry and our president."

The situation in the Gaza Strip

Russian citizens who were evacuated on Tuesday described the situation in the Gaza Strip as a genuine genocide. "To be honest, conditions are extremely dire there. There are no basic necessities: no water, no electricity—nothing. It's utter chaos, a true genocide of the population. Yes, I arrived on the first flight, and there are no more relatives left there," shared a girl named Christina, who arrived in Moscow in early November. She was at Domodedovo airport to greet her mother-in-law, and during their reunion, both women were overcome with emotion, shedding tears.

Nadezhda, who came to the airport to welcome her son, briefly experienced the war zone in Gaza and also characterized the situation as genocide. "You can't imagine what's occurring there; everything is destroyed, literally everything. There's no water, no food, and people are dying. It's a genocide. Those without Russian citizenship can't escape; they have to stay there. It's extremely frightening," she conveyed.

According to the woman, Gaza has no military presence; only civilians are intentionally targeted for destruction. She presented images of her demolished home and mentioned losing everything, now facing the challenge of rebuilding her life. "I lived in Gaza for 25 years, had my salon, and now everything is in ruins. I have nothing left. But, thank God, my son arrived today, and that is the greatest joy," she added.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry task force in Egypt continued its efforts to assist people crossing the Rafah checkpoint. On the latest day, 133 individuals and their families successfully passed through.

The Russian Federation's representation to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) recently announced the resumption of evacuation measures for Russian citizens and their families from the Gaza Strip. This evacuation comes amid renewed hostilities after a week of relative calm.

Since the start of evacuations from the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, the Russian Emergencies Ministry's aircraft has completed nine flights. In total, 881 individuals have been safely transported to Russia on these special airplanes.
