Deputy chairman of the FC Committee on Foreign Affairs, deputy Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World" Farit Mukhametshin met with a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), headed by Suleiman Al-Gharbi, head of the Islamic organizations division of the Public diplomacy department of the KSA Ministry of foreign affairs. He was accompanied by a group of representatives from several ministries of the KSA, as well as Naif Hashim Al-Sharif, Director-General of the World Islamic League Conferences.
The meeting was also attended by Gazinur Bakirov, assistant to the president of the Republic of Tatarstan, and representatives of the International relations department of the GSV.
The talks focused on organizing a GSV retreat session in Jeddah on November 24-25, 2021.
According to Farit Mukhametshin, the parties agreed on a number of positions, which was an important step in activating international contacts within the "Russia - Islamic World" discussion platform.
"The parties agreed that holding such an event will contribute to strengthening a sustainable interethnic and interfaith dialogue," said Farit Mukhametshin.
The senator noted that the discussion started at the meeting in Jeddah may be continued within the framework of the World Conference on inter-religious and inter-ethnic dialogue to be held in St. Petersburg in May 2022 and organized by the Inter-parliamentary Uuion in cooperation with the United Nations.
