Western countries are failing in the Ukrainian conflict but will continue attempting to create chaos within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), according to Sergei Naryshkin, Director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR). His remarks followed the 20th meeting of security and intelligence chiefs from CIS member states.
"Western bloc countries are facing failure in the conflict in Ukraine. However, we believe they will not calm down. They will continue to act in their usual manner, attempting to sow chaos in the states of our [Commonwealth] and around the Russian Federation," Naryshkin told reporters.
He cited Western interference in elections within post-Soviet states as an example of such tactics. "Look at how elections were conducted in Moldova, under immense administrative pressure and unprecedented external interference. Similarly, in Georgia, there were blatant attempts by the Western bloc to interfere and stage yet another color revolution," Naryshkin emphasized.
