Russia is backing the efforts of the “ten” non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council as they work on a resolution aimed at easing the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said.
“We support the determination of the ten non-permanent Security Council members to advance a draft resolution focused on urging Israel to lift all restrictions on humanitarian supplies to the enclave. We expect this resolution will also call for a ceasefire, without which managing Gaza’s humanitarian situation is simply impossible. We are convinced that adopting the resolution would be a vital and effective step toward alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people,” Nebenzya stated during the Security Council meeting.
He added it remains unclear “what's more needs to happen” for the US authorities to acknowledge that multilateral Security Council diplomacy is the only way to turn the situation around on the ground.
